Why does my Skoda Fabia lose power after driving for an hour?

My car is a Skoda Fabia Ambiente (petrol). After driving for an hour or two on a motorway it starts to lose power, and the exhaust system warning light comes on. Shortly after that it stops. After a wait it starts again, but the warning light disappears. This means the dealers and my usual repairers (very good) cannot find the fault. Any suggestions?|||Overheating. Check your oil level first, by pulling oil stick from engine (easy to find, it's usually yellow). Use some paper to clean it and you'll see oil level. Also check liquid in radiator. If non of this helps, go to your local Skoda dealership.|||it may be due over heating of the engine.check the radiator for coolant.if there is no coolant then surely this is the cause.otherwise dont know.....
