Is the Skoda Octavia Diesel Estate car any good?

thinking of buying one of these, is skoda improved or is it still a rubbish make? in particular the Diesel engine?|||I've got one - 105HP Ambiente - my fourth Skoda

Excellent car - comfortable, quiet ( when it's warmed up !) excellent finish, 55mpg average in town and I think it looks good as well.

Cheap to tax and insure...

Don't worry about the badge snobs - let them pay through the nose for thier motoring - go take a look at one|||I've got two friends who have recently bought these cars. It also coincided with them having kids.

I hate the look of them but they seem to like them. They say they are cheap to run, reliable and safe. It's basically a Volkswagen anyway.

Buy it. You're not going to be wasting your money.|||Yes. Very good.

Its a VW Golf (same platform, same engines and transmissions) without the pretentiousness, and with some extra room too.

I'd have one in preference to the Golf any day.|||the skoda engine and car are much improved, you will struggle to find a better deisel estate, shame about the interior tho, not attractive ata all!|||They are decent cars. They have voltswagen engines they just cost a lot less. If you are looking for a good car and don't want to part with huge amounts of cash then they are perfect. It's only the name that is tarnished.|||yes very good, its always a good sign when lots of taxi drivers have them.|||skoda,s now very reliable..especially octavia diesel you wont regret buying one.|||skoda now belong to the VAG "volkswagon and audi group"

the octavia is based on the same platform and chassis as the passat and the audi a4, these days skodas are very good and very reliable and cars|||Yes good car suffers from image problem the diesel engines are noisy on start up but fine when warmed up.VW reliability for Skoda money.|||the diesel engines are v/w golf or passat engines and are extremely reliable
