Why have Renault, Peugot, Fiat, Skoda, and a few other foreign cars completely disappeared from the US market?

It seems to be that by around the end of the 1990's all these models became absent even as Renault was innovating massively, and Skoda was getting a top rating in Europe for being an affordable everyman's Passat. What happened?|||speedy said that euro cars aren't sold in the US because they don't comply with the higher standards in the US.

WHAT RUBBISH IS THAT !

US cars are almost the lowest quality cars in the world.

Regarding emissions..

FIAT is 140% ABOVE their green target emission CO2 levels.

CITROEN is 115% ABOVE their target.

RENAULT is 100鈥?at their target.

Lets skip down the other end and we will find.

HONDA is 40鈥?BELOW their target.

MAZDA is 73鈥?BELOW their target.

NISSAN is 80鈥?BELOW their target.

US manufactured cars didn't even make it on the list !!.

A typical American SUV creates about 250 grams - 500 grams of CO2 per kilometre.

Last year in a trial , the French car maker RENAULT achieved a miserly 71 grams per kilometer.

The average modern standard for Euro cars is now less than 130grams

Do some research on the word Kyoto.

Kyoto is a worldwide agreement to limit emissions.

Well , I cant really say worldwide , the USA refused to accept it...everyone else did , but USA didn't.

Now , shall I continue on with crash testing as well ?????|||they would not sell in the U.S.|||Emission regulation and crash testing, safety requirements., Would cost makers much more money to import same vehicle here as rest of world
