Battery light on my skoda has llit up?

Back in january i had to have my alternater and battery changed to my little skoda felicia 1.3. This morning i noticed that the battery light has come up again, but when i'm driving it goes of. Does anyone have any ideas.

Thanks|||The battery light on the dash is there to show that there is a difference between the power output from the alternator and the power draw from the battery.

It is possible that the output of the alternator is below the required level to charge, run and maintain the cars electrics. Do you have any big current draws on the car? For example a high powered CD/radio?

The best thing to do is test the output from the alternator will a multi meter on the terminals of the battery. You should get a reading above 13 volts.

Ja.|||Either it's idling too slowly or the belt is slipping. The light goes off as the engine revs increase, because enough power is being generated by the alternator. If it stays on, not enough electricity is being generated, probably due to one of the two reasons I mentioned first.|||The elastic band needs changing.|||No1 thing id do is have the car running and get someone to push the paddle as you look at the alternators belt......could be ull find its jumping some as you increase speed meaning loose belt...forsure id go back to whoever replaced the alternator and battery bec if its not the belt id suggest the alternator isnt giving out enough...even something like a loose battery tetminal can cause your problem

.....now adays ppl say new but most auto suppliers sell you rebuild supplies......so its not impossible the alternator is faulty ...|||You have a Skoda and one of the bulbs actually works! Well that is a first for a Skoda, you are very lucky.|||Yes, it sounds like the engine runs too slowly to turn the alternator enough for it to put out enough current when you're just idling. Of course, since it's winter, if you have the fan turned on High and the lights and a hig-powered radio on, it's possible that all the accessories are using more current than the alternator can put out when it is turning slowly because the car is stopped. If you have the fan on high, turning it down a notch or two may help. But it's designed to put out enough for standard accessories. I'd take it back to whoever installed the alternator and tell them what you've told us.|||sounds like the diode pack in the alternator has failed.

take your car to halfords, or any good garage, they will check it for you, normally for free.

if the 'new' alternator has a warrenty with it, you shouldn't have to pay for the repair/replacement.|||check your alternater belt is tight enough, and check the plug or nuts are tight on the back of the alternater, if it is could be a faulty alternater and you should be able to exchange it as you only had done in January,|||this means that your service is due.|||The battery is fine that light is to tell you to change the car the battery is connected to
