How good/bad was the Skoda Estelle? Was it good value for money?

Like most makes the rally car is nothing like the road version.

Different engine/gearbox/suspension/brakes/steerin鈥?etc.

The Estelle wasn't a good car, cheap to buy maybe but that's all.

I remember when they were new the steering was not up to standard.

The pre VW cars were a joke.

Modern Skoda's are class leaders.|||'Good' does not come in to it. This was made when people made jokes about doubling a Skoda's value when you filled the tank. Actually build quality was not really that bad but certainly the car was very basic and crude, By todays standards the handling was woeful, particularly in the wet. If all your driving was at slow speeds in a city you might ~ just ~ have considered it value for money. You really would not want to be driving one nowadays.|||The Skoda Estelle was excellent value for money, despite the many jokes about them. They were unbeaten in their class in world rallying for a great many years, a feat surpassed only by the Mini!! They were designed to be cheap transport for the masses, and millions were sold........|||Compared to western European cars it was very basic indeed, but surprisingly well made. This made it excellent value for money simply because it sold for very little money at the time.|||They were cheap basic transport but in many ways they were good little cars. They did very well in Rallying, which is always the sign of a good car.
