Why does this light keep coming on in my Skoda?

My coolent light keeps coming on in my Skoda Fabia, despite the fact that I've filled the thing up to maximum level. Does anyone have any idea why else this might be happening?|||You may have filled the header tank to maximum, but have you checked your coolant level since running the car?

If it has gone down again then refill to the correct level and try running the car again. Is the level the same?

Yes = car coolant level is ok and no leaks. If the light flashes the sensor is unserviceable and needs replacement.

No = you probably have a coolant leak, check all your hoses for signs of a leak. If no leaks then you have a coolant leak within the engine. And he sensor is working as it should.

QED|||Some possibilites (not knowing which model you refer to):

1) air in the coolant system ...So the sensor still "thinks" - and may be the air also can interrupt the coolant flow - circuit...

2) Sensor broken or badly connected.

3) Computer not interpreting signal well.

Check with a "real" garage, who have the test software.

Good luck

H.|||Are you sure it's the coolant warning %26amp; not the washer fluid warning?

If it's the coolant light, is the engine temperature gauge reading OK?|||Its probably the coolant temperature sensor at fault.

It needs plugged onto a dianostic machine to confirm the fault.|||You could have an air lock in the circulating system, or a short in the coolant wiring to the sensor.|||are u leaking?

If not try disconnecting and then reconnecting the battery
